The Argument

There is nothing glorious
Or self-sustaining
In being a creature of sin.

Of having to watch those faces
Look at you with disdain
And a murderous grin.

Because you son are different
So strange to the others
How ever could you love?

Love the same sex
Love another man
And still call it love?

Dont you know you foolish boy,
That this is just some phase,
And you shouldn’t be with men?

I bet your brother put you up to this,
Now just where is he?
Does he too not realize the sin?

But Dad, listen you foolish child,
Talking to me like I am wild,
What did I do to not deserve love?

This is no choice, this is no phase,
This is not something you can wish away
This is me, this is now, accept the fact, or you’ll drown.

I’m not some freak, some genetic malfunction,
I am your son after all, without a dysfunction,
It is you who is the sinner, the terrible beast.

You think love is one sided, like black and white
That day is day, and night is night,
But you wouldn’t know would you?

Hiding behind that religion of yours,
It teaches you to love, to open your doors,
But here you sit, in denial of me.

So father, my father, who I dare not deny,
Because I love you so much, my star in the sky,
When will you open your closed eyes?
