What do you hear?

What do you hear when it’s pouring rain,
At 3 am in the morning,
In your car coming home from saving,
Your friend, a stranger, a human being?

What do you hear when it’s sunny out,
At 1 o’clock in the afternoon,
As your waking up in your foreign bed,
With a pain in your head and an itch in your groin?

What do you hear when the sky is grey,
And pure crystals of water fall harshly,
Against your tent in the mountains,
Nestled in the silent trees?

What do you hear as the night comes,
And the car swerves into your lane,
But absent mindedness causes the breaks,
To break too late, and metal dances with metal?

The thirsty plants gulping down water,
Because the drowning rain,
Is the first you’ve seen in months,
Here in the drought ridden land.

The cat purring beside you,
And the other one meowing,
Because you stood up late writing as paper,
And the house has fleas.

The breathing of your son,
Sleeping silently in Khione’s rage,
As your try to keep your teeth from clattering,
Because you’ve shared your source of warmth.

The screeching of tires and slamming of your door,
As you rush to help the elderly couple in the car,
That swerved in front of you,
And instead of road rage, you give compassion.

What do you hear?
Besides the obvious,
Pouring rain,
Winter Storm,
Birds chirping,
And car crash?
